Phone in the Sorting Room

Staff,

As many of you are aware, the phone in the sorting room is connected to the Circulation queue. The phone must be answered when it rings, however we are to direct the calls as appropriate. Questions about items on the account as well as fines need to be directed to the Circulation Desk at 31574 or 31571. General information and reference services need to be directed to the Reference Line at 31313.

We are expected to answer general questions such as hours, locations and phone numbers and we can also renew items.

Staff, please remember that we cannot offer any information on any account without a library card number. If they would like to renew, but don't have their library card, we can look up the account using a name and renew the items, but we cannot give them any information (i.e. titles of books, account information, address, etc).
