Good afternoon, staff and volunteers!
Just a quick reminder of a few changes going on with the overtime that most people should be aware of already. We are no longer discharging during overtime hours. The overtime hours should strictly be used for paging and building trucks. The area we would appreciate extra help in is the Kids room, where the majority of our backlog lies.
While we appreciate all the help we are about to receive from not only our own staff, but from other departments as well, we understand situations may change and you may not be able to do all the hours you have requested. We ask that you give us a 24 hour notice (at the very latest) prior to cancelling an overtime session so we be prepared. Unfortunately, if we do not receive notice, we will not be able to schedule you for any further overtime, so please keep us in mind when making other plans. We don’t want anyone to miss out on this overtime event.
Also, people have been inquiring as to how long is acceptable to be out shelving a truck. The following list is an overdraft of the expectations while shelving during your overtime hours. When on overtime, you are expected to shelve:
ADULT ITEMS:
3 full shelves of a large metal or wood truck per hour
1 full small black truck per hour (double-sided)
JUVENILE ITEMS:
**** PICTURE BOOK TRUCKS****
2 shelves on a large metal or wood truck per 1.5 hours (picture book)
1 Full (2 row) small black truck per 1.5 hours (picture book)
*****FICTION/NONFICTION*****
2 shelves on a large metal or wood truck per 1 hour
1 full (double sided) small black truck per 1 hour
If you feel these numbers are unreasonable or you may not be able to complete a truck in said time, please feel free to talk with us so we can rethink our expectations.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has come forward to volunteer.
