Good afternoon, y'all,
Just to ensure a smoother flow of discards, please delete and stamp the item before placing it on the discard wall. Doing this will save having to place the items up on the shelf only to have them removed to be discarded. I think we can all agree deleting one every now and then will save time instead of deleting several trucks of them at once.
Also, if you need a reminder on the standards for "condition weeding", I always say if you would be embarrassed to lend the item out to a friend or family member, then we should remove it from our collection. Otherwise, if there are rips, tears, stains of any sort or missing CDs from 2nd floor books, discard them.
For Stacks items, please leave these with Darcy for review with rare exceptions, such as creatures or other lifeforms growing on or living in the books.
For AV items, if the case is cracked, the cover is broken, the CD is scratched, or the booklet is gone, discard. And as always do not be afraid to use your own judgement. If you're on the fence about an item, feel free to ask. Keep in mind that any CDs or DVDs that have missing disks or cases need to be placed on its proper shelf on the mismatched CD truck, located next to the check-in terminals in the sorting room.
Also, we'll be dividing up the Discard shelves for your floor soon.
As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to post to the blog or ask us in person!
