Dear Daniels 8/17/10

Daniel,

I pulled the holdshelf a couple days ago and for some reason, I found expiration dates from 8/2, 8/3, 8/5, 7/26 and 8/10. What’s up with that?

Expiration Exasperation

More than likely the items or customer accounts were “in use by system” when the hold shelf was cleared on that date. This happens frequently because we all assume when we run it, its done. Let me explain: When the Hold Shelf is cleared, always flip to the back of the packet. There more often than not will be a list stating “item/record is in use by system”. Whenever you see this, just run the report again to catch the holds that were missed and add it to the list.

Daniel,

When I was going through the process of doing an online payment, a message came up saying “Ask for the correct zip code so the transaction can go through”. Huh?

Perturbed Payment

Perturbed,

Whenever you do an online payment, make sure to verify all the information on the account to ensure accuracy. It may not go through if they still have the same address from eighteen years ago on the account! Also, to protect customer privacy, make sure to verify the email address so their receipt doesn’t go to someone else.

Daniel

Daniel,

When are we switching floor assignments?

Sassy Switcher

Sassy,

We will be drawing floors in late December, but we will not be officially switching floors until February so you can get acclimated to your new floor while finishing any projects on your old floor.

Daniel

Daniel,

What happened to the Kids truck behind the desk?

Curious at the Counter

Curious,

We are no longer keeping kids items at the desk and are just sending the items down the chute as long as it will fit. Should you run into an item you don’t think can make it down without getting stuck, place it on the oversize truck. Oversized and AV are the only kids items we should be holding behind the desk.

Daniel

Daniel,

Can you go through the new procedure for the sorting room again?

Sorting Room Switch up

Sorting,

Certainly. Once a truck is checked in, it gets moved to the presort area. Once there, all staff is to assist in break down and place items on the designated truck. When the truck is full, whoever filled it is expected to finish sorting it and tag it, regardless of which floor they work on, and push it into the floor’s truck corral.

Daniel
