Just a few reminders I wanted to bring to your attention from a couple of incidents that occured today:
When checking to make sure a customer is eligible to check out a laptop, make sure to double check the expiration dates and also make sure the picture is not scratched, manipulated or faded. Keep in mind that these are expensive pieces of equipment and we do not want to check out a laptop illegitimately to a different customer nor do we want to have to eat the cost of a lost laptop. When checking a temporary/paper ID, make sure the temporary ID is not expired. Someone allowed a customer to check out a laptop using a temporary ID that expired in May 2010. Temp IDs are usually only good for 6 months at most and while we do accept temp IDs w/ a picture, they cannot be used past the expiriation date. The date can usually be found at the top of the paper below the title "Temporary ID/TDL".
Along the same thread, expired photo IDs cannot be used, whether it is one year expired or one day, we must remain as consistant as possible to avoid abuse on the laptops.
And as long as I have your ear, make sure when checking out laptops that we're checking to make sure the card is 30 days old, keeping in mind the months that have 31 days (example: a customer recieved their card on 7/6/11, the customer would be eligible on 8/6/11 due to the number of days in July).
