OCLC will be out and the results could cause a few issues. Please read the following to prepare yourself for potential problems.

I wanted to let HALAN staff know about this OCLC maintenance outage.  It should not affect our libraries dramatically   but here’s what is potentially affected:

We have hosted EZProxy with OCLC for authenticating some databases.  The affected database access URLS begin with https://[Citytx].idm.oclc.org/.  We have an email from OCLC that says EZProxy is NOT affected but  you should test databases before you begin work on Saturday morning just in case.  In case the databases don’t work during the outage,  we can post a notice to your Web site that some databases may not work.  Let us know if you want to do this.

ILL: Some online public functions related to ILL may not work.  You should check public   and staff functionality on Saturday.

Staff   doing cataloging that depends on OCLC (Catexpress, Connexion) should not work on Saturday  and someone should be assigned to check OCLC related functionality Monday morning and report any problems to HALAN helpdesk.

If you like you can post things that don’t work to this list on Saturday so you can keep a running list that everyone can see.  Remember there is nothing HALAN Helpdesk will be able to do to fix these issues.

If I forgot something, please reply to all on this email and let me know.  Please forward the message to staff you think should know.   I will update this email if I get more info.  If you have suggestions or questions let me know.
