There was a recent question regarding Category 4 (Overdrive)
being a necessary field at the time of registration
How this started:
When we first switched to HEB cards we asked overdrive for
list of existing users and asked Sirsi for that list of customers to have a
value in category 4 that stated overdrive. We tested a process at central
by asking staff to indicate whether a customer used overdrive. (staff was to
ask when replacing Power cards with MyLink cards) In theory this would
flag the account for overdrive update with the new account number. This update
did not play out as intended and was discontinued.
The current practice:

User category 4 provides and interesting usage
stat for overdrive but does NOT create an overdrive account nor does it update
and existing user’s account with the new number.

An overdrive account is created when a customer
logs in to overdrive.

To update the customer’s overdrive account with
new information please contact Email reference via email or the ask for on the
HPL website and include the following: Subject: Overdrive Account Update,
Customer Name, Old Card Number, New Card Number
