My apologies for this belated update, but here are a handful of helpful posts from the Reference Blog.  - HD

Skype interview issue

Hello all,

A lady drove all the way here from Friendswood last night to do a video interview, but was unable to do so as the program she was using was not Skype and could not be downloaded onto our PC. She added that she had called and was told this was ok.

Please be aware that non-Skype video programs CANNOT be used on our PCs due to our security settings.

Thank you,

Gordon

I Speak Issue Solution

From an email from H. Chou:

Issue: The issue occurs after a staff calls the Language Line, and enters in the Client ID and Library code, and a recorded message asks, “Please speak the name of the desired language”.
After the staff speaks the name of the desired language, the recorded message says that it is not able to identify the language that was stated.
For example, when you speak “Chinese”, the recording answers that it does not recognize that language.
Solution: When the recorded message does not recognize the language, staff may press zero (0) to reach a live operator

Make It Right Program Flyers at Welcome Desk

Make It Right! on Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 8:30am-3:30pm at Sagemont Church, located at 11300 South Sam Houston Pkwy East, Houston, TX 77089

What is the Make It Right! Program?
This program is designed to help members of our community who have unresolved warrants for low-level, nonviolent misdemeanor offenses.  The goal is to provide these individuals with an opportunity to “make things right” for themselves by getting their outstanding warrants removed and their pending cases resolved in a non-traditional and non-confrontational manner, with NO immediate financial cost and NO risk of arrestIf citizens have outstanding Class C warrants or other pending charges in Harris County Precincts 2 & 8, this event will provide them with the unique opportunity to clear them up in a favorable environment, without having to go to court.
Make It Right! will also include a career fair and community/legal resource fair, with volunteers from local employers, community-based programs, and attorney organizations will be on hand to give legal advice on civil and criminal matters.  Some issues to include: other criminal charges, expunctions, landlord-tenant issues, immigration, wills & probate, child support, etc.).

The Community Engagement team is participating in this event. The event was also mentioned in the movie series today, so if anyone is inquiring about the flyer for the event I have printed some and placed them at the Welcome Desk.

Thanks
