CLASSIC PAPERBACKS - SOME CHANGES - 8.31.16
Greetings:
You may have noticed some differences to the most recent classic paperbacks that were sent to your library. They have a spine label with a call number (i.e. the author's last name), in addition to the "Classic" label. They are also cataloged differently. These newer books are considered cataloged paperbacks; so they will appear in the catalog under the author's last name, NOT under the category of "Paperback Classic." They will be either on a brand new bib record or they might be attached to an existing fully cataloged bib record. The screenshot below for To Kill A Mockingbird is a good example. The top entry is for newest version and one below is for the older paperback classic version. You may continue to shelve these books in with your classics or interfile them with the regular fiction collection. Please be aware that these new books are holdable, so they will start appearing on paging lists. *ADDENDUM: Some of the books were accidentally ordered in hardback format, but they have the "Classic" label. Please shelve these books in the manner which would best serve your staff and your patrons.
