Due to popular demand/many questions concerning whether HPL offers adult literacy classes. We felt it might be helpful for our staff members and customers to find out some more information. At this time HPL does NOT offer classes for adult literacy. However; Jen Schwartz was awesome enough to find us some information concerning local adult literacy programs

Help local adults learn English and improve their reading, writing, and speaking abilities.
Literacy Advance Family Literacy programs are designed to help parents of elementary school children improve their English literacy skills. These community presentations encourage parents to attend school activities and enroll in literacy classes so they can help their children succeed.
Literacy Advance of Houston offers two main programs at no cost, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Adult Basic Education (ABE). English as a Second Language students make up 74% of the student population and are characterized by the fact that English is not their native language. In contrast, students of Adult Basic Education, represent native English speakers who never learned to read or write properly.
