Just an FYI--Fred Schumacher has worked with Unique Management Services (our collection agency) to have them use their automated phone call technology to notify our customers when they have holds to pick up.
Our preferred method to notify customers is via e-mail, which is free. If we do not have an email address for a customer, we then pay UMS to make the automated call. Failing that, we still mail out notices (the most costly method). Please encourage customers to give us their email addresses and to keep them up to date. This is the fastest, most effective way we have to notify them of holds and of overdues. Plus, if we have their email address, they also receive a reminder before their items are due so that they can return them on time and avoid fines. If anyone has good ideas on how best to encourage our customers to keep us up-to-date on their email addresses, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks,Syma
