UPDATE: Printers/Copiers are NOW WORKING on the first floor!

Good afternoon,

The printers on the first floor are NOW working. The printer by the Laptop area just takes cash only, while the printer by R1 takes both cash and credit card. Please do not send customers to Circulation to pay for their prints. Also, please do not do anymore courtesy prints. If you have any questions, please see Sylvia.       Thank you.

Greetings,

In preparation for the upcoming deployment of Envisionware, Coin Copier installed a new printer (Bank of PCs area)  and a copier/printer  (R1 Area) on 1st floor.

Currently the printer is functioning (there may be some issues printing PDFs) and accepting the existing print cards
The new copier/printer can be used to make copies, but it is not connected to the network yet.

The equipment on 2nd and 3rd floors will not be changed at this time as Digital Strategies is testing the equipment on 1st floor before committing to purchasing additional devices.
This means that customers will have  to come to 1st floor to pay for their prints, since that is case, they might as well retrieve the jobs on 1st also.

Starting on Monday (10/9/2017) there will be significant changes in which customers pay for their print jobs:
The existing Print Cards will no longer be usable.  Customers should retain those cards as they can use them elsewhere In the system and eventually, there will be a process in place that will allow customers to use those funds (I don’t have a timeline at this time)

The new printers and copiers will accept cash, credit and debit cards, however:
Only dollar bills can be used and up to  3 $1 can be fed at one time, machine will provide change once copies or prints are made.  No other bill denominations will be accepted
Coins may be used (except for pennies)

Credit and Debit Cards:
$1 minimum charge
Color prints will now be $.50 rather than $1
System adds a temporary hold fees of $10, which could take from a few hours to a couple of days to clear.  This depends on the bank used
It is highly recommended that customer batch their print jobs and NOT print piecemeal as each time they use their card, the temporary hold fees will be added.
If customers do not have enough funds to cover the hold fee, the system will not allow them to make copies.
I don’t know if it could result in overdrafts and other issues with access to funds.

It is best to always leave the copier/printer in the automatic mode.  The machine will sense the size of the paper and, if printing in color, the automatic setting does a great job.
If a customer starts a transaction and decides not to do the copies, they will need to cancel the transaction.  A credit/card transaction will remain “live” for  the next for the 5 minutes; to cancel the transaction, customers must push the silver bar located on the top of the payment station.

Thanks,
Paty
