With Hurricane Ike in the Gulf of Mexico, we may experience some inclement weather in the coming days. At this time, the City of Houston has not issued any notices or closures for city facilities. Any decisions regarding this storm will be made as the storm’s path becomes more certain.
Planning & Facilities has distributed the HPL Emergency Preparedness Plan Brochure 2008 to all staff. It is the yellow tri-fold brochure with emergency contact numbers and tier designations that was recently sent. If you are unsure of your tier level, please contact your supervisor. We have also distributed the City of Houston’s Hurricane and Disaster Booklet to all library locations for public distribution.
As in preparing for any storm, here are some items to remember:
· Remove all outdoor items at your location and place them in a secure place
· Power off all computers, monitors, printers, etc.
· If applicable, back up your computer files
· If there are leaks at your location, please protect/secure material and computers
· If you have a emergency supply kit at your location, please inventory items in your kit to make sure all items are there and working properly (flashlights, radios, etc.)
Please tune in to local news stations to get weather and road conditions. For additional information on possible HPL closings or conditions, please contact the emergency hotline at 832-393-1550 or your immediate supervisor.
