Where's That File?: A Comprehensive Manual For Finding Where Things Belong

I've received a lot of good questions about where to place different documents/problem items we accrue throughout the day, so I've comprised a list of locations to put these things:

Laptop Agreements w/ Fines should go on Sylvia's desk in the black tray.

Laptop Agreements and Laptop Waiting Lists (w/o Fines) to be shredded should be in the black HPL basket across from Jose's desk against the wall. We are no longer keeping stats on the waiting lists at this time.

Clearing the Holdshelf packets should be placed in the hanging file on my cubicle wall. The packets need to be filled out in full before being turned in.

Delivery Hold Stat sheet which we affix to the wall above the hold trucks should also be placed in the hanging file on my cubicle wall.

Library Card Applications should be placed on the far right side of Jose's desk temporarily until we can find a permanent home for them.

Shelfreading and Shelving Accountability forms should be placed in your floor's basket next to the title page truck. It is imperative we complete these forms as accurately and as frequently as possible to improve our stats over the next few months. We will start to tally the papers and how much is being shelved/shelfread to show the work that we're doing in the department and why we need assistance.

206/Vacation/Sick forms should be given to your immediate supervisor not before 3 months in advance and not after 1 day following of time taken. If you call in sick, make sure to give the 206 to your supervisor immediately the next morning to ensure proper coding on your timesheet.

If you have an item that you have questions about, do not place them on a desk and hope for the best. Please keep the item where you can easily get it upon the return of a supervisor or floor senior so we can assist to the best of our abilities. Further, if you must leave an item on our desk, please leave a legible note telling us the problem and your name so we can get back with you to help you fix the problem.

If there is a problem with item call #, barcode or cover information, these items need to be taken to Processing immediately and without delay. On the Fly or No Record Found items must be placed in the bins underneath the check-in area in the sorting room.

If a customer returns a item damaged, remember to print out a copy of their account information, wrap it and place it on the bottom shelf of the title page truck. Also place a note in the account supporting this and why the item was placed in damaged.

Should you find an DVD, CD or AV that is missing a disk on the shelves, please make sure we place the item into Repair Shelf status and then place it on the truck of mismatched AV to be sent to the Collections team for review.

If you have a problem with any computers or related equipment, please alert IT before alerting a supervisor to make sure the issue is dealt with in a timely manner.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to ask!
